TENT

An Immersive performance devised in collaboration
(final performance in the praxis module for the MA in Performance Design.

Taught by Scott Palmer) University of Leeds, UK, Fall 2016

Working from the concept of childhood, as it appears as memories, my group of collaborators has explored the structure of a tent and how it, isolated from the outside environment connects with sounds, light and materials from inside as well as outside. With the concept of ‘childhood memories’, drawing on our own memories of being in nature, the process was devised through the play with materials, sound and light in a laboratorial process.
The performance was run 6 times with 6 audience members in each to create a collective feeling in the immersive space.
This performance allowed us to explore intimacy, audience engagement, the effect of interactive design, immersive spaces as well as the experience of time in performance.
